Coaching without a coaching system is a guessing game & is not great for you or your clients.
Coaching clients as an OSP without the support of a coaching system, process or framework can be likened to guessing your way through.
Which doesn’t bode well for you or your clients.
And in those times when your client has a challenge that’s beyond your expertise you’ll struggle to know how to support them through it because you don’t actually know how to “coach” them.
I’ve had this happen to me multiple times with “coaches” I’ve hired. I’d have a focus I wanted to work on, or a challenge to work through and they wouldn’t know how to support me. Because they didn’t have a way to work with clients they could rely on.
Some “coaches” are very good at making you believe they’ll personally take you to some magical super power infused next level. But how?
One “coach” even said to me “I don’t think you’ll ever be ready for that kind of growth” and couldn’t give me a reason for their response.
I was dumb founded. Knowing what coaching actually is I expected them to coach me to gain insight, clarity and understanding of the steps to achieve my goal.
Then I had a realisation my desired focus and direction was way out of their comfort zone. and in the ensuing weeks I heard them share on social media how their coach had guided them to keep people grounded and realistic about what’s possible!!! WTAF 😳
Who are you as a coach/guide/mentor/etc to put a limit on anyone’s ideas, desires, dreams. That’s not coaching. That’s someone who doesn’t have the skill set or a reliable system to work with clients.
When you are supported in your coaching practice by a proven, reliable system, process or framework you ALWAYS have a way to truly coach your clients. In fact multiple ways.
And a coaching system means you also understand how to authentically coach clients forward on whatever journey they’re on.
